  • Top 10 chemicals to avoid in skin care products

Here is my top 10 list of chemicals to avoid in skin care products. The list could be longer, but you'll be lucky if you can remember the top three. I know it's complicated and overwhelming when you first realize that the majority of the products you use for personal care, skin care, make-up, deodorant, soap, etc. contain many of these chemicals. I have also listed the EWG score. EWG stands for Environmental Working Group. It's a comprehensive data base that rates many skin care products and chemicals for their toxicity level. The scale is 0-10, 0 being the...

  • How to apply Root Beauty's natural, organic moisturizer

Here are some simple steps to making our organic moisturizer last longer  (and supply the best nourishment for your skin).  1. Wash your face with cleanser and then rinse with warm water.  2. Leave face wet. Literally dripping wet. 3. Put several drops (around 3 to 5) in your hand. 4. Rub your hands together to spread the oil throughout your hands. 5. • How to apply Root Beauty's natural, organic deodorant

Here are some basics steps for applying our deodorant. 1. Put a small amount on your fingers.  (Remember if the room is cold the deodorant might be a little hard, just scrape a little out and it will melt right in your hands or fingers.) 2. Remove excess and enjoy a day free from odor!

  • #1 chemical to avoid in all products!

There are more and more studies being done about the various chemicals found in our personal care products (and cleaning products) and the findings are disheartening. EWG (Environmental Working Group) has started a data base to list and rate these chemicals based on their toxicity levels. I must admit, it can be totally overwhelming. There are so many ingredients in skin care products, even organic skin care products, that it can be difficult to figure out if the product you use is toxic or not.   The one easy way-to-remember, easy-to-find, number #1 chemical to avoid is FRAGRANCE! Why is...

  • Urban hippie origins

For many years, I have been on a journey of natural organic simplicity. But my flower power is a little more city than rural commune. You might call me a bit of an urban hippie.  I have lived in Los Angeles for over a decade and love the city with all its quirks and diverse culture. For all the concrete jungle that surrounds us, there is still a subculture here that is seeking to get back to the basics of life. For us urban hippies, the fountain of youth just might be in our kitchen instead of in a jar of unpronounceable...

  • Be an urban hippie, don't smell like one! Use our natural organic deodorant

Are you tired of your natural deodorant failing halfway through the day? Are you tired of salt crystals not living up to their claims? Do you want a natural organic deodorant that actually works? Well, look no further.  Much like you, I was looking for something to prevent my 4 p.m. under arm hippie smell. I would spritz myself with body spray to reduce the odor, but it never worked. I would carry a stick of deodorant in my purse and reapply. But once the smell began there was not much I could to to cover it up. My only...
